OK, so we are working with the T3 Quickstart for Joomla! 2.5. I get how to assign a Template Style to a menu item, like below...

t3_blank - Home 1 = http://demo.t3-framework.org/joomla25/index.php/homepage/home-style-1
t3_blank - Home 2 = http://demo.t3-framework.org/joomla25/index.php/homepage/home-style-2

But how did you assign a LAYOUT within the Default Template to the below?

3 Columns = http://demo.t3-framework.org/joomla25/index.php/layouts/3-columns
Left Sidebar + Content = http://demo.t3-framework.org/joomla25/index.php/layouts/left-sidebar-content

and so on.. I can't see where Joomla is calling those LAYOUTS within the Default Template?

----

found this..

In T3 framework, each style will use one layout (but please keep in mind that one site use many styles --> so one site can use multiple layouts simultaneously because T3 use multiple styles simultaneously).

So even more confused since the demo site looks like it has several layouts with just one style?

Hi,

Yes, it is a bit confuse with the layout term here.

1. The layout file. It is a file in tpls folder and it will contains all markup of the page. This will be use if you want to force the layout to the webpage.
2. Main layout. It is the layout of the main block. Usually, we use some condition to archive different layout based on the setting in backend (module position).
For example, please take a look at the mainbody.php file in tpls\block folder.

The 'default' in T3 Blank has 3 columns: left sidebar, main content and right sidebar
When you view a menu item, with has no module publish on the right sidebar, the default layout will turn to Left Sidebar and Main Content.
When you view a menu item that have module publish on bold left and right sidebar, the default layout will show 3 columns and so on.

Hope it help.

Regards

Hello Mike, I too get a bit confused with the terminology at times (themes, layouts, styles, bla bla bla).

What is the end result you are looking to achieve? Maybe I can help if I know what you're trying to do.
