Resolved Custom Error Page Not Showing

I've added an error.php page to my t3_bs3_blank folder as per instrutions in various places online however when I deliberately cause a 404 error by requesting a page I know doesn't exist I still get the default system error page.

Could there be something I'm missing?

Got it - the client had installed ReDJ component which was overriding.
