I have opened the unedited T3 BS3 blank template in three different browsers and each time there is a large empty space on both sides of the template the sidebars are both nearly 150 pixels from the edge of my screen. How do I get the template to span the entire screen without the large borders/spaces at the sides?

This is what I am talking about. I want to keep the sidebar columns all the way to the edges and expand the main content center section when the browser is set to full screen.

It means that you want full width layout right? You just need to remove the "container" class and it will become full width layout but be careful with that as your layout could look mess up.

Will the layout then no longer be responsive then? Or is there any way to change the container so that it is the full screen width?

It is still responsive. The container is just to define the width of the layout.
