FLEXIcontent is not JoomlArt product. We can not make sure that it's compatible with T3 or not, you have to confirm this with the extension provider.

Purity III template is a free Joomla template with a lot of supported layouts including portfolio. It does not use any extension, it extends the com_content. You can add more fields if you want. P/S: Purity III is developed with T3 Framework, so it requires you to install and enable T3 Framework plugin. If you use the quickstart, T3 Framework plugin is already installed and enable.
