Resolved Override Footer at every update?

Hello,
I have modified my footer and it really looks great. My questions is:

Do I have to modify the footer.php each time I perform a T3 update, or there is a way to override it?

Please update with JA Extension Manager component so your customization will not be lost, but we still suggest you to take backup before upgrade.
